As medicine and technology continue to advance, Dental Hygienists play an even greater role in the overall health management of their patients. With recent clinical studies showing a direct connection between an individual’s oral health and general health, there is an obvious need for hygienists to focus on continuing education. The Greater Philadelphia Dental Hygiene (GPDH) Study Club for Advanced Learning was created to provide a vibrant, continuous learning environment that will further the careers of its members and advance the future of Dental Hygiene. The GPDH Study Club was a concept created through the collaborative efforts of Maggie Rutherford, RDH and Dr. Robert Levine at the PA Center for Dental Implants & Periodontics. Since its inception in early 2009, the club has grown to close to 100 members and has had near capacity attendance at its quarterly meetings. We are excited about the enthusiastic response from the dental community and look forward to even more growth in the future. In addition to providing an interactive website for members to exchange ideas, review new products, download patient education materials and link to various online portals for continuing education courses, the group meets quarterly at the historic Buck Hotel and Restaurant in Feasterville, PA. Each meeting qualifies for 3 continuing education credits, and features nationally renowned speakers who provide valuable insight and information for hygienists and assistants to share with his/her practice and patients. Why join the Greater Philadelphia Dental Hygiene Study Club?
